Razor House Glass Fencing
Frameless Glass Pool Fencing Gold Coast
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Working with a long-time client of Absolut Custom Glass Systems, the Thallon Mole Group we undertook this project knowing it would be a show piece for our glass and engineering skills well into the future. Thallon Mole Group is a high-end building company based in Brisbane that demand the best quality when it comes to products and trades that are used on their projects.
The Razor House was no exception with a plan to install a custom made 12mm toughened glass balustrade on the spiral staircase that would enclose the elevator shaft. This glass balustrade would be the centrepiece of the house, and as it turns out the centre piece of Absolut Custom Glass Systems work on the property. This was a job that would require all of our skills to ensure that the panels were perfect the first time around. The staircase, located in the centre of the living area in the house needed to have a double-sided balustrade with one side being extra high as to enclose a cavity that went through to the elevator shaft.
Absolut Custom Glass Systems, working with Andy Mole from Thallon Mole Group, were able to supply the curved glass balustrade in a series of eighteen panels that were curved and twisted to hug the stair case. The inner side of the balustrade was required to be over two metres high to make sure the elevator cavity wouldn’t be a safety risk. As you can see from the photographs of this house the glass balustrade was successfully installed the first time.
This house also required some creative thinking for the pool fence as it would be sitting just outside some amazing sliding concertina doors that kept the weather out. For this we had to creep the panels as close to each other as possible, not something normally done with pool fences. We ended up having a five-millimetre gap in between each invisible fixed panel that was filled with a glazing silicone. These panels were fitted into the concrete using an invisible channel system that creates the illusion of the glass rising straight out of the ground, no stainless-steel spigots anywhere.
We are very proud of this project and our highly skilled staff that helped us achieve it. We continue to work with the Thallon Mole Group and the know Absolut Custom Glass Systems is always up for a challenge in creating some of Australia’s most unique and stylish residences.
